Illustrated Paper Toys

Paper toys are an incredible art form. Character artists have taken their art to the next level by combining character design and illustration with the dimensionality of sculpture, made of paper, in the form of toys. Characters, Art, Crafts, and Toys, all in one. How cool is that?

Even cooler is the many ways paper toys can be enjoyed and experienced. You can –

• Build them. They are like a combination of arts and crafts, model building, and puzzle-solving. Once you have built them you can play with them, display them, and…

• Collect them. There are so many paper toy designs out there to build and collect. A great place to start is The NicePaperToys Group. There you will discover thousands of paper toy artists and fans. You can even create your own page and share your creations and collections with other paper toy fans.

• Customize them. Many artists will share their “blank” paper toy templates so that you can create your own character art on their original paper shapes to end up with your own custom version of the artist’s toy design. It’s a fun way to collaborate with other artists.

• Create them. And if you are feeling really ambitious, you can design your very own paper toys from scratch. All you need is your creativity, a piece of paper, and a little patience.

For now, on this page anyway, we will focus on pre-designed, fully illustrated, paper toys from some of the world’s best paper toy artists.

And soon, you’ll be able to share your creations here as well, so that others can enjoy them too.

So scroll on down the page and see what’s waiting for you. Have fun and Happy Folding!
