Consciousness and Mindful Awareness
A simple way to think about consciousness is through the process of mindfulness or mindful awareness. This means just being aware of the present moment, what is going on, and how you feel about it. Many people work on this through mindfulness meditation. During this type of meditation, you are asked to be fully present in the moment and to acknowledge the things around you and within you without being overwhelmed. Similarly, consciousness or mindfulness in everyday life asks that you be aware of your thoughts, feelings, environment, and bodily sensations. As you become aware of them, you acknowledge them and respond kindly. Research has shown that this type of mindfulness benefits the physical body as well as the mind and soul.
Learning to be aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings at a young age can have a massive impact on your future. It helps to raise healthy children that grow into focused, emotionally intelligent, and empathetic adults. However, any person at any age can learn and benefit from this practice, as with all of the 5 C’s of CreatableMe. Also, by learning these traits now, you can help to pass healthy habits onto your children. Practicing consciousness and mindful awareness helps to reduce stress and anxiety, increase confidence, improve cognition, and more. Even just 5-10 minutes per day can really make a difference.
