Here we’re going to talk more about the fourth C, Communication. Successful communication first begins as a child by talking with your parents. As we get older, it bridges out into communication with ourselves as well as others. We believe that communication with yourself in the form of positive self-motivation is essential to development. Many people suffer from a nagging, negative inner dialogue. This type of negative reinforcement can diminish your self-esteem and confidence. That’s why we believe successful communication begins with the self and then branches out from there.

Successful communication begins and ends with positive self-talk. In between this, we can build a powerful connection with others as well as grow our sense of community. The best way to encourage positive self-talk with your children is simply by giving them positive reinforcement. Remind them that they’re smart, beautiful, and capable of anything. Compliment them on their art, writing, communication, or what they’re wearing. It’s simple, little things that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. When they inevitably do fail at something, point out what they did right and help them to figure out what they could do differently next time.

Once you have established successful, positive communication with yourself, the doors for everything else will open up. You will be more confident in communicating with others. You will also be able to build more powerful connections with them. This, in turn, builds a connection with your community and those around you. Learning positive communication skills with yourself and others will help your children to understand and learn from you as well. Being able to communicate your thoughts, ideas, and feelings is essential to living a happy and productive life.
